Beats 100,000 times per day

Over 2,000 gallons of blood surges through your body each day How does this tie into our digestion and nutrition unit? Think about saturated fats? Clogged arteries?

 The heart is no bigger than your fist  However- it is extremely unique  Made of many different parts In men the heart is about 10 ounces In women the heart is about 8 ounces

 60,000 miles of blood vessels actually feed your organs with nutrients from the blood Some are large Some are small

Did you know that 1 good laugh can send 20% more blood through your body?

POWERFUL  Your heart actually creates enough energy to drive a truck for 20 miles!

 In your lifetime, the heart pumps 1.5 million barrels of blood. Enough blood to fill 200 tanker cars

Find your pulse at rest  Count the lub dub as I watch the stopwatch

 It is thought that the heart changes and mimics the music you listen to  Turn to page 542 and lets look at the heart diagram

Check the difference in your pulse  Find your pulse and record the difference after dancing to the music to your resting pulse
