What is Music Therapy  Music Therapy is using music to help a person who is in mental, social needs, as well as other reactions.  Music therapy can also help a person to relax and feel less stressed.  It is used to accomplish individualized goals. A person needs to complete an approved musical therapy program.

How does it help?  Music therapy can help a person improved their life qualities.  It also helps to encourage emotional expressions, social interaction, and to relieve certain symptoms.  Music can help a person to feel less stressed and more comfortable about themselves.  Studies also show how they help to lower heart beats, blood pressure, and breathing rates.

How does Music Therapy Help?  Music therapy can help you with physical, emotional, and psychological symptoms.  It can be used in cancer treatments to relieve pain, nausea, and anxiety.  It can also help children with cancer by allowing them to be more sociable and interacting with other people.

History of Music Therapy  Music has been used for healing for thousands of years.  Ancient Greek philosophers believed that music could heal your body and soul. Native Americans used to dance and sing as part of rituals.

Where can there be Music Therapy?  Music Therapy can be performed anywhere at all.  Some places where music therapy can be performed include: hospitals, cancer center, at homes, or anywhere where the patient is able to feel calm and relaxed.

What does music therapy involve?  Music therapy involves making music, listening to music, writing songs, and talking about the songs and lyrics.  Music Thanatology is performed at the end of a person’s life to help the persons pass away. It can be practiced at homes, hospitals, and nursing homes.

How to become a music therapist  To become a music therapist you must have at least a bachelors degree, 1,200 hours of clinical training, and one or more internship.  They work in many cancer centers and hospitals.
