Regional Networks Why were they created? Will regionals go away? Where is the support for regional networks? The Future?

Why Were Regionals Created? Delivery of services – yes…. But for other reasons: –Build/foster collaboration/cooperation among agencies & institutions –Regional/state economic competitiveness –Political reasons; Governor’s project; signature activity

Going Away?

Support & the Future Strong demand for an organization(s) to focus on the business/operational issues related to building and managing a regional net… The Quilt & StateNets. Regionals becoming larger/stronger… “Super regional nets” … Regionals in US more like European NRENs…
