People in tropical countries prefer brighter and warmer colors People in countries with cooler climates prefer cooler colors Young children prefer bright primary and secondary colors Well educated people prefer tertiary colors and more sophisticated colors with unusual names. Males: Prefer the color blue to red, and orange to yellow. Baby boys traditionally tend to be dressed in blue, except in Belgium where pink is used for baby boys. In the western world many men are color blind so you need to be aware of the red/green visual problems if this is your target market and choose other colors that are not as affected. Both Genders Both Genders Blue, turquoise, green, red, yellow, black, white, gray and silver are colors that are the most suitable for use in business when marketing to both males and females. Pinks and purples are now becoming more acceptable to males, with pale pink business shirts and purple casual shirts commonly seen on men.

Where to apply colors Interface controls such as navigations, menus, boxes, buttons, links and search fields are areas where you should apply your brand color. This highlights your interface controls, making them easy to see when users need to do a task Play with the saturation and brightness of that color. The color hue is still the same, but the color saturation and brightness vary throughout the site. Use black and for background and text color.

Colors are selected that conflict with your brand, or do not tie in with your brand. UPS is brown – where is all the brown? The web site uses saturated background colors that fight with your site’s content and make it difficult to read and navigate.
