Vocabulary Term - A number, a variable, or a product of numbers and variables. Variable – A letter or symbol used to represent a value. Constant - A term without a variable. Coefficient - A numerical factor in a term containing variables. Equation - A mathematical statement that two or more expressions are equivalent
Vocabulary Expression - A combination of variables, numbers, and/or operations that represents a mathematical relationship but no statement of equality or inequality. Inequality – A mathematical sentence showing two values that are not equal to each other.

Solving One Step Equations When solving equations, you need to do the inverse (opposite) to solve. Ex) x + 12 = 15
Solving One Step Equations When solving equations, you need to do the inverse (opposite) to solve. Ex) x + 12 = x = 3
Examples x – 12 = -9 7 = 3 + x -2x = -16
Examples x – 12 = x = 3 7 = 3 + x -3 4 = x -2x = x = 8
Inequalities Solve inequalities the same as you solve equations EXCEPT when multiplying or dividing by a negative number. When multiplying or dividing by a negative number, switch the direction of the inequality sign.
Graphing Inequalities Open circle Closed circle x -3
