Introduction My project is about comparing of the Norman times to the 21 st Century. I will look at a number of areas including: War Lifestyle Food Houses Transport Weaponry I will finish off by saying which time I prefer.

During the medieval times soldiers rode horses because they didn’t have any technology, were as now a days we have machines like: Tanks, Helicopters and Planes. Horses to helicopters, tanks and planes.

Bow and Arrow to Guns One of the most popular weapons in Norman times was the bow and arrow, where as now a days we have: Guns, Bombs and Knifes to name but a few.

Medieval huts To Mansions In the medieval times the sort of houses they had were like huts, in the 21 st century we have: Mansions, Flats, Hotels and Terrace Houses.

Foods then, to Foods now Back in the medieval time people eat foods like bread, pears, apples and many different meats and vegetables. But now a days we eat a lot of different foods like KFC, McDonalds, subway and more.

Horse and carriages to cars, motorbikes and trains. In the medieval times they used a horse and carriage to transport items and people around, but in the 21 st century we have vehicles like: Cars, motorbikes, trains and other forms of transport.

Canons to heavy guns and rocket launchers. Back in the Norman times they used canons as heavy weaponry, but now a days we have heavy machine guns, rocket launchers and loads more weapons.

EVALUATION My project has been about the differences of living in medieval times compared with living in modern times ie living around the time of the Battle of Hastings and living in the 21 st Century. While researching my project I have looked at various areas of life including: War Lifestyle Food Houses Transport Weaponry I have found out that life in the modern day is a lot better and we are more advanced in all the above areas than it was in the medieval times. Life in medieval times was very basic and everything had to be worked for whereas today we have advanced so much that we do not have to work as much for things ie we can just go to the shop and buy a loaf of bread but in Medieval England they would have had to make it from scratch. Other areas that have greatly improved are the weapons. Our modern day army is equipped with so many weapons for both land and sea as well as air. In Medieval England they only had the use of bows and arrows, swords and horses for combat. William the Conqueror had to sail for days across the English Channel to get to England for the Battle of Hastings and he would only have had horseback to travel on. Nowadays we can cross the channel within minutes and have the use of all sorts of military transport. I think that I would prefer to live in the modern day than live in Medieval times as we have so much more in all the above areas then they did back then. Life was more simple for Medieval England so they wouldn’t have had the stresses we have today but I would still prefer to live now.
