Online Social Networks and More! October 12, 2009

Positives: Great way to…stay in touch with family and friends. Great way to…reconnect with old friends or family. Great way to…network with organizations you care about.

Concerns: Very few boundaries or filters in this new technology. Contact between an adult and a student. Friends post (“Tag”) pictures or make comments you don’t want shared.

Concerns: Pictures and information is out there in the public. Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) can take action on information on Facebook.

Be Smart and purposeful!

My advice: Don’t “Friend” parents. Don’t “Friend” students. Be smart about the information you put on Facebook. Do have fun and connect with family and friends.

Other online issues: s Online test banks Cell phones
