The Nuts and Bolts of Mentoring SESSION 4 JUNIO 2013

Spiritual Life Session 4 Mentees’ ongoing relationship with God is foundational for their success in ministry. What is God saying to you at this time? How do you know this? What has God taught you since our last session? Do you have a daily quiet time with God? Describe it for me. How are you incorporating the disciplines of prayer and fasting into your life as you plant this church?

Family Life Session 4 Mentors need to ask questions regarding their mentees’ relationships with their spouse and children. How much time are you giving to your family, as compared to ministry? How do your children feel about the time you have for them? How do you prevent your home from becoming a public house, with constant visits from those you are ministering to?

Ministry Life Session 4 Can you tell me about a recent visit you’ve had with a new contact? How did it go, and why? Is there a struggle you’re having right now in planting the church? Please tell me about this. What new thing have you learned about your target area? How successful have you been in starting a small group? Have any conflicts surfaced? If so, how did you handle them?

“So, what are your next steps?” Action Points Session 4 Mentees need to be challenged to consider and determine what they will do next, whether this has to do with their spiritual, family, or ministry life.

Mentor’s Log Sesison 4 The mentor records when he or she met with the mentee, what was discussed, and what action steps were agreed on.

The use of experts Session 4 Good mentors recognize when they need to suggest others who can help their mentees in a particular area—people who are specialists in the area of need.
