God’s Word in Your Life Matthew 13: 1-9 & 13-23 July 13, 2014

A man went out and sowed some seeds… Matthew 13:1-9

Some of the seeds fell on the path…

Some of the seeds fell on rocky soil Some of the seeds fell on rocky soil. It sprouted but when the sun got hot…

Some fell among weeds, which grew up and choked the plants…

But some fell on good soil which produced a crop…

Jesus said: “Pay attention to what God is trying to teach you.”

The Seed Is God’s Word The Bible

The Plant is Faith

The Produce Is The Result Of Faith The Christian Life

The Path Hard headed Hard hearted people They want nothing to do with God or His Word Their minds are made up So Satan takes the massage so that they will not even have the chance to believe or change

Rocky Soil Shallow people The message sounds good They want it, they believe it BUT When times get tough They give it up

Weedy Soil Materialistic Christians Too many good things Too many blessings The plant grows BUT There is no fruit!

Good Soil? Soil does not make seeds grow God’s Word grows – it works on us it works in us We can let it bring faith and fruit Or We can reject it Faith and life are God’s miracles

Each of us are made up of all types of soil!

Soil characteristics can change and so can people Weeds can be cleared The Chrisman life is about priorities Shallow soil can be cultivated We need to be changed God can break up hard hearts But it is not a pleasant experience

Jesus said: “Listen to what God wants to teach you.” Study and listen to His Word, it changes your life Trust Him as He changes you

And the peace of God which surpasses all human understanding will keep your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ to eternal life AMEN
