Foundational We must believe God Speaks

God’s voice is: Constant (Gen 1:3, Col 1:16-7) Heard in nature (Rom 1:20, Gen 3:8, Ps 19:1-4)

God’s voice is: Constant (Gen 1:3, Col 1:16-7) Heard in nature (Rom 1:20, Gen 3:8, Ps 19:1-4) Revealed in the Bible (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:21) Promised to us with the coming of the Holy Spirit (John 16:13, Acts 13:2, Rom 8:14) In the community of the church (Acts 15:28)

Point One: God is always speaking to us

Secondly God’s voice has a distinct tone

John 10:1-5 1 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep…

… 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

… 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

John 10: … My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

2.1 The tone of the Holy Spirit’s voice is one of peace (Jn 14:27) “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

2.1 The tone of the Holy Spirit’s voice is one of peace (Jn 14:27) 2.2 The tone of Jesus is one of Love

Point Two: God speaks in the distinct tones of Peace and Love

Lastly God speaks in soft whispers

Point Three: The softness of God’s tone requires us to remain close to Him
