Introduction  Design Question:  How can I visually represent the book “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan”?  Concept:  An animatic of the Opening Scene—would allow for me to see how well the script conveys both the setting and time period visually.

Background & Research  The Animatic is based on 2 things:  The book “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan”: A story about a lifelong friendship between two women in China during the 1800’s.  The adaptation I had written for the screen.

Conclusions  Project vs. Concept:  The project proves that the concept is achievable through a visual mediun.  Project vs. Design Question:  More animatics of different scenes would enable me to see how well they translate to film.  Vision:  Eventually I would like to finish writing the adaptation.
