Context and Background There are many children who remain out of school in contemporary India. Worst affected are poor children who belong to the scheduled caste and schedule tribe communities, girls, and those from areas of neglect and backwardness in both rural and urban contexts. MVF’s Background MV Foundation started its work on abolition of child labour since 1991 in the districts of Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda in the state of Andhra Pradesh covering over 1500 villages. MVF has monitored (enrolment and retention) more than 17,00,000 children in various states both directly and indirectly over the past two decades. Project Strategy In the areas of neglect and backwardness MVF adopts an area based approach maximizing community participation through extensive mobilization programmes and campaigns. PROJECT OUTCOMES A Survey of all children in the 20 GPs would have been conducted out of school children who are at risk and school drop outs are enrolled and retained in schools.

40% of Gram Panchayats will be prepared to keep an agenda of child rights in their regular review meetings. All School Management Committees (SMCs) get trained in the project area SMCs in 50% of the schools get activated in the project area. Child committees established in schools.

ROLE OF ROTARY CLUBS All training conducted by MVF will be in collaboration with Rotary Clubs who will identify Resource Persons for the same. Rotary Clubs will participate in the Quarterly Programme Review meetings along with MVF senior staff, Project Co-ordinators, Mandal in charges and some select Rotary Community Workers, members of gram panchayats, SMCs, CRPF, school teachers, officials and so on.

In such meetings Rotary Clubs would also enlist the support that is required in terms of supplies like physical infrastructure- toilets, books, play material- as well as issues that have to be flagged at the District and State level. Rotary will assist in liaison with the government of the Telangana State to bring unresolved issues to their notice and enlist the governments support and action.

Rotary Club members will participate in Public Meetings, Rallies etc. and also make field visits as and when possible. Rotary Clubs will also plan and enable implementation of co-curricular activities in schools such as quiz, elocution competition, sports, and cultural programs and even attend some of the events when invited.

Rotary Clubs will invite MVF to make presentation on their activities in their Club meetings held at their respective district/State level to inform and give an exposure to all the members of the Rotary Club on the program

RI District 3131 Pune Rotary Distance Education Program project has been proposed to benefit rural tribal youth in the state of Maharashtra, District Pune and Raigadh, India.. It is directed towards 1 to 10 grade students in rural area where quality education is not available

RI District 3070 Jalandar, A special schools under National Child Labour Project has been set up by the Central Government. There are about 27 schools has been set up by the Government in Jalandar. Rotary Clubs in Jalandar are managing 15 schools to support this noble cause.
