 Only shared-time CTE county vocational school district in pilot program  Selected the Electrical/Energy and Carpentry CTE Programs for the pilot  Two instructors are participating, CTE & Science Teachers  Thirty students are enrolled

 Changed the course name and curriculum to reflect Green Program of study model curricula  Implemented specific student recruitment for the green program of study  Implemented targeted outreach to Science classes at sending schools  Utilizing a part-time Science teacher  Provided teachers professional development opportunities via the Green Program of Study grant from the Office of Career and Technical Education, NJDOE, and the district

 Green POS Summer Conference, June 2011 Reviewed the model 9 th Grade curricula exploratory curriculum: Science of Sustainability and Green Careers Exploratory, and prepared implementation strategies Learned methodology and strategies for implementing project-based learning PD provided through the Green Program of Study grant  Building Science Conference, Philadelphia, November 2011 Reviewed the model 10 th Grade curriculum: Green Construction/Building Science, and prepared implementation strategies PD provided through the Green Program of Study grant

 GEF Sustainability Course offered online by the Green Education Foundation 15 hours PD provided by the district to support the participating teachers Provided teacher support in implementing the pilot 10 th Grade curriculum for Green Construction/Building Science

 Increase in construction program/ building science content and skills  Increase in student engagement Real-world application Computer activities  Lessons and activities provided for teacher  Recruitment spillover

 Infusing pilot curriculum lessons into the district’s current curriculum  Repetition in some content  Need for more hands-on student activities  Differentiation for struggling students  Alignment to NJCCCS  These challenges will be addressed in future curriculum and pilot district meetings

 District is in the early stages of implementing the Grade 10 Green Construction / Building Science Curriculum  Guest speaker, “Free Green and Clean”  Hot-Bed Project Passive Solar and Geo- thermal Energy

 Continue to pilot Grade 10 curriculum (Polytech is the first pilot district to implement the Grade 10 curriculum)  Provide additional support for teachers  Provide teacher training in the Energy Management Systems curriculum through C-Tech  Develop lesson template  Articulate Science credit with home schools
