Sam Vinson, Austin Porter, and Hannah Mcmillan The Vietnam War, Domino Theory, Viet Cong, And Ho chi Minh Sam Vinson, Austin Porter, and Hannah Mcmillan

The Cause And Affect Of The Vietnam War(1945-1954) The United States Of America was worried about the spread of Communism throughout Asia. Ho Chi Minh(May 19, 1890-September 3, 1969) was the founder as well as the first leader of the Vietnamese Communist Party. The US government believed in the Domino theory. The Domino Theory stated that if one country fell to communism, all of the neighboring countries shall also fall to the communist’s rule. The USA supported the French in the Vietnamese War. The USA paid over 75% of their war debts. In August 1964, the US Congress passed a resolution giving the president power to go to war. In February 1965, the U.S. began to bomb north Vietnam and soon 184,000 American soldiers were fighting in Vietnam.

The Domino Theory The Domino Theory states that if one country fell to Communism, that the neighboring countries shall follow. This theory was discontinued after August of 1964. The United States tried to stop communism by invading Vietnam in 1964.

Viet Cong The People's Liberation Armed Forces, more popularly known as the Viet Cong (VC), was the military arm of the National Liberation Front (NLF). Established at the end of 1960, the VC was created by the North Vietnamese communists to escalate the armed struggle in South Vietnam. In the early 60's they grew rapidly and by 1964, totaled over 30,000 soldiers. The Viet Cong were organized into three levels: regular forces operating under the command of the southern communist leadership, full time guerrillas organized into companies serving under provincial leadership and finally, a part time self-defense militia, composed of units organized into squads and platoons used primarily for village defense.

Ho Chi Minh Ho Chi Minh was born in 1890. He lead North Vietnam in the Vietnamese War against the U.S. Ho finally settled in Paris in 1917. Here he read books by Karl Marx and other left-wing writers and eventually he became convened to communism. When in December, 1920 the French Communist Party was formed. Ho became one of its founder members. Ho Chi Minh was the founder and the leader of the communist party against the U.S.
