Unit 10: Magnetism Wednesday, 4/15  Respond to the following:  What is a magnetic field?  Draw the magnetic field lines for the diagram below (copy the magnetic on your warm-up). Upcoming dates:  Friday, 4/17 – open note magnetism quiz (note: I will not accept any late work related to magnetism after the quiz has been taken)  Monday, 4/27 – open note atomic physics quiz (note: I will not accept any late work related to atomic physics after the quiz has been taken)  Tuesday, 5/12 – Rube Goldberg presentations (project is a test grade)  Friday, 5/22 – Last day to turn in 6SW extra credit  Wednesday, 5/27 – Bottle rocket launch (project is a test grade)  Tuesday, 6/2 – 4 th period final exam (11:25 to 12:45)  Wednesday, 6/3 – 2 nd period final exam (10:00 to 11:20)

 Respond to the following:  What is a magnetic field? The space around a magnet in which a magnetic force is exerted.  Draw the magnetic field lines for the diagram below (copy the magnetic on your warm-up).

Electromagnetism (25 minutes)  Start video at 1:14 and end at 19:22  When you are finished with the notes  Show me and I will enter your grade.  Pick up the handout for motors, generators, and transformers.  Read the handout and use the following questions to guide your reading:  What type of energy transfer takes place in a motor?  What type of energy transfer takes place in generator?  What type of energy transfer takes place in a transformer?

Practice  With your group, complete the practice problems.  When you are finished please show me and I will enter your grade and you can check the key.
