Iran has been known for Her vertical shaft ancient wooden windmills. In recent years, the wind turbines became subject of interest after some thousand years. The first modern Iranian designed and manufactured wind turbine with a nominal output of 600 kW has been designed and manufactured by Inst. A. Ayvazian & Associates. The wind turbine KAMI 600 is stall regulated and has its own special design gearbox with direct connection of the rotor hub on input shaft. The turbine is designed according to relevant rules and regulations such as GL, IEC etc. and it is successfully in operation since commissioning. In order to design and manufacture the KAMI 600 wind-turbine, all the know-how necessary to accomplish the task has been developed by the designers in Iran and the turbine started running successfully from the first operation hours in a mountainous area near Caspian Sea (North of Iran). For mass production the wind turbine design is revised to have an output of 750 kW with some slight changes. Inst. A. Ayvazian & Associates
