Mickey was one of the best players ever. He was a switch-hitter. He is a Oklahoma native. He played center field. Mickey won a Triple Crown. Mickey won three MVPs and played in 20 All-Star games. He won 7 World Series out of twelve. He has the most World Series HR, RBI, walks, runs and extra base hits. He has the most career walk-off homeruns. Mickey in his rookie year he slipped on a drain pipe in center field. Even though Mickey was amazing he could have been better.

 Roberto was right-handed. He played right field for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was in the All-star game 15 times, he won 12 Gold Gloves and won 4 batting titles. In his career he had exactly 3,000 hits. He died in airplane crash on his way to Central America to give charity because they had an earthquake.

 Ted was the left-fielder on the Boston Red Sox. He had 4 nicknames, The Kid, The Splendid Splinter, Teddy Ballgame and The Thumper. He won the MVP twice, he won the Triple Crown twice to and led the league in batting 6 times and was in the All-star game 19 times. He was also called The Greatest Hitter who Ever lived.

 Willie was one of the best all-around players ever. He was nicknamed The Say Hey Kid. He was in the all-star game 24 times which tied Stan Musial for the most times in the All-Star game ever. He also earned 12 Gold Gloves. He was amazing on defense. bkFnE

 Honus was a shortstop. But he was played in the outfield to. He switched games from out field to short with manager Fred Clark (managers played and managed). Honus’s baseball card is the most valuable card in the world. There are only 15. The reason there are only 15 is because cards came with cigarettes and Honus said they couldn’t sell his card because he didn’t want kids to smoke. His nickname is The flying Dutchman because he was Dutch and he had lots of range.

 Jackie was the first black to play in the pros. His manager Branch Rickey thought that people should all be treated the same. He didn’t tell anyone because they would think he was crazy. The signing was a success! Also Jackie brook the color barrier! Jackie played in six world series (four against the Yankees)and won one(against the Yankees). He also was in six all-star games and won the Rookie of the year. He won the MVP to. His number was retired throughout baseball.

Joe was one of the best players of all time. He got the nickname Shoeless Joe because in a minor league game with New Orleans Pelicans he went out to left field with no cleats. The radio caster of the day noticed and gave him the nickname and it stuck. Most people know about Joe from the Black Sox Scandal. It is when people bet on the Sox to lose the World Series. Joe did not bet but money was thrown on his bed by a teammate which people thought was betting money. Joe was thrown out of the game by baseball’s first commissioner.

Nolan started his career with the New York Mets. He didn’t do well with the Mets and was traded to the California Angels (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim). This is noted one of the worst trades in Mets history and one of the best in Angel history. His nickname was The Ryan Express. After the Angels he went to the Houston Astros because he was a Texas boy and wanted to go back to Texas. He has the most career strike outs ever with 5,714. His number was retired with the Angels (#30), The Astros(#34) and with the Rangers (#34). He then went to the Texas Rangers who he owns today. He was born on January 31 st 1947.

Ty Cobb was born on December 18 th, One thing that is not mentioned about Cobb was his fielding. He committed 271 errors in his career. But on the bright side he was a great hitter. He also was a fast runner and his amount of career stolen bases was broken in 1977 by Ricky Henderson. Cobb sharpened his cleats so when he slid he would injure the opposing player. Ty Cobb passed away in July 17 th 1961.

 Babe was a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. On the days he wasn’t pitching, he played right field. After he was traded to the New York Yankees, he was became a full-time right fielder. The Yankees wanted his bat every day and that is why they moved him to the out field. For a season he played with the Boston Braves(after they became the Milwaukee Braves and now the Atlanta Braves).

Hank was known as Hammerin Hank. Hank was one of the most powerful hitters of all-time. Hank played with Milwaukee Braves and when they became the Atlanta Braves he played with them. After, he played with the expansion team Milwaukee Brewers. He has the most career home runs ever. Some people didn’t want Hank to beat Babe for two reasons : he was a black and they liked Babe. But he had courage and beat Babe.

Cy was one of the best pitchers of all-time. He has the most career wins with 511 and 2,803 he was to overweight. A year after he died baseball invented The Cy Young award which in his honor. Strikeouts. Cy has the fourth all- time shutouts with 76. He won 30 games in 5 seasons and in 10 seasons he won 20. He pitched three no hitters and one being a perfect game. His perfect game was the third ever. Cy retired because every one bunted and he was to overweight to get the bunts.

 Christy Mathewson who was also known as Big Six, Christian Gentleman and Matty. Christy was in the first 5 to go into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Christy has the 3 rd most wins of all time with 373 (behind Cy Young and Walter Johnson). He has the most wins ever from the national league (tied with Grover Cleveland Alexander). He had a great fastball and outstanding control. He also featured a fadeaway which now is none as a screwball.

 Walter played his 21 year career all with the Washington Senators. He has 2 MVP awards. In 1924 the Senators won the World Series with Walter leading the pitching staff. He has the second most career wins with 417 behind Cy Young with 511. He has the most career shutouts with 110. He is called Barney and The Big Train. Walter led the league in strike outs 12 times. He has the 4th most complete games with 531.

 Lou was born in Yorkville, New York City, New York. Lou was a first base man. He played 17 seasons with the New York Yankees. He batted fourth behind Babe Ruth. This was called murderers row. He was in the All-Star game 7 times and won 6 World Series. He died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Since he died from it people now call it The Lou Gehrig disease.

Warren was a left handed pitcher. He played his whole 21 years in the majors all in the National league. In thirteen seasons he won 20 games. Warren won a Cy Young award in He was in the All-star game 17 times. He won the World Series in He had 2,583 career strikeouts. When he was inducted into the Hall of Fame he had 82% of the votes. His career win loss record is His number 21 was retired by the Atlanta Braves.

 This is the saddest play in baseball. It is when Ray Chapman was up against the Yankees. There were no helmets. The ball hit him in the head. He died three hours later. After that they invented the helmet. Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth saw this with there eyes. Steroids: Steroids are illegal drugs that players use become better players or to prevent injuries. Players who used steroids include Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Roger Clemens.
