The Ghost of The Haunted Hills By: Clarissa Gensy Nicole (Nicki) Seals (Based on a true story)

It was close to Halloween, and a group of middle -school students and I were telling ghost stories while at school. One boy named Jeff told of a cemetery, that every night, you could see a lantern being carried through the fog, but it was too far away to visit. Another friend of mine named Wayne, told us of another story, The Ghost of the Haunted Hills.

He said that every night, close to midnight, you could see the ghost as it traveled through the woods, off the mountain, down to where it crossed the road. this was just below my great-grandfather's house and next to the old school. The school had stories of its own. This was an old, one room school that hadn't been used in over 50 years. But some people believe that the students' spirits still attend there.

We had all gathered together, while three of our older brothers and sisters drove us to a place just above my great-grandfather's house. We sat in the cars with all doors and windows opened. Some sat on the hoods and one girl even went through the sun-roof to sit on the roof of one of the cars.

That night was dark, with only a quarter moon to light the sky. We were taking time about, telling ghost stories. When out of the night came the cry of a baby. Five of the students, led by two of the girls, headed up the hill, through the overgrowth, and into the woods.

As they approached the woods, they could clearly hear the baby's cry as it echoed through the night. Then, they heard Thump!!! As if something had jumped out of the trees. All of a sudden, a girl named Harmony screamed! Harmony, being the one closest to the woods turned around and yelled, "BOB- CAT!!!!"

We sat around the cars, laughing about how realistic the bobcat's "cry" was compared to a baby. As it grew later, and later, everyone became sleepy. Until Philip stood up, staring at the hillside. Everyone started looking the direction that Philip was, up into the hills. There, you could see something white, coming down through the woods. - "Hahahahaha" "I know right!" - - "It sounded so real!" "Super cool!" -

As it grew closer, and closer, everyone started piling into the cars, tearing out of there. I however, was spending the night at great-grandfather's, so I didn't have a ride. There I stood, alone, in the middle of the road as white spirit made its way through the trees. I wanted to run, but my curiosity over weighed my fear. Finally, it came down through the weeds and the trees. It came down halfway across the road, stopped turned and looked at me. There it stood 60 feet below me, an albino deer.

When I moved just a bit, the deer jumped, went over the hill, across the creek, and over the other side of the hill. For just a moment, I thought I saw a young boy standing on the rock steps leading up to the school, but when I looked back, there was nothing there.

I thought about going down to the school and investigating, but I thought better of it, because that is another story...
