Opportunities for Canadians

Canadians are eligible to take part in H2020 programmes, even as coordinator All proposals must meet certain minimum conditions (in Rules for Participation) Rules of Participation

For standard/cooperative research projects: o 3 participants from different Member States or associated countries Participants from other countries can also be included For individual projects (ERC or MSCA: o 1 researcher o 1 host institution o 1 project Minimum Conditions

Eligibility for Funding Automatically funded: Member States Associated Countries Countries listed in H2020 annexe Third Countries are funded when: Agreement exists between 2 funding bodies Provision made in the call text Commission deems participation essential A strategy for intl cooperation in H2020 has been adopted May result in targeted opportunities for intl cooperation

Collaborative Projects To be funded, Canadians need to: o Request funding at proposal stage o Have support of all other partners o Demonstrate that participation is essential to the project’s success To be deemed essential, Canadians must demonstrate that: 1.project would not be successful without contribution 2.no European can make same kind of scientific and innovative contribution 75 Canadian researchers funded under FP7
