Science Lab Expectations

Never work in a lab without a responsible adult

In a lab, NEVER eat or drink anything.

Hands-On Safe Science

Eyes- wear goggles Nose- waft to whiff Hands- wear gloves Feet- closed shoes Clothes- no long sleeves Mouth- never taste Hair- tie it back if it’s long Face & Skin- don’t touch while handling materials

Fire- never leave a heat source unattended Burns- use mitts or tongs Explosions- never heat a closed container Confusion- label all containers Cuts- be careful with sharp instruments Accidents- never run, throw things, or play in a lab Electrocution- never submerge electrical appliances

Wash your hands Know a heat source works before using it Know how to throw away waste properly Follow ALL directions Know what chemicals you are using and how to store them Know the location of fire extinguisher and call button
