Protect your skin Even if your skin is not burning, it may still be experiencing effects of UVA rays. The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is an indication of protection from UVB rays. The SPF number indicates how long you can stay in the sun, without burning. PA stands for protection grade of UVA system and is the Japanese measurement of sun protection, which is based on the Persistent Pigment Darkening (PPD) reaction reading at 2-4 hours of sun exposure. According to info from the wiki, the Persistent Pigment Darkening (PPD) method is a method of measuring UVA protection, similar to the SPF method of measuring UVB light protection. These are the three levels of protection that are commonly seen: PA+, PA++ and PA+++. PA+ provides some UVA protection with a factor of PPD 2-4 PA++ provides moderate UVA protection with a factor of PPD 4-8 PA+++ provides good UVA protection with a factor of PPD > 8 Which means, you’re better off picking a sunscreen with PA+++ which will provide you with the greatest protection. http://www.vivawoman.net/2008/06/09/the-japanese-pa-sunscreen-rating-system/ All of our products have both UVA and UVB protection, however the PA+++ rating system is included on the label in only some markets. The US FDA is currently undergoing a change in the rating system for sun protection products and is going to require both UVB and UVA protection level to be listed; the UVB will remain SPF, but the UVA will be listed as stars. know your skin tanning type • tip for young skin • estimate your SPF • burning when you least expect

If you are in water over 20 minutes without reapplying a sunscreen, your skin is more likely to burn. When you are on a reflective surface: For example: On water, under a white parasol or on the sand, UV rays are reflected onto your skin. That’s why you can also burn in the shade. know your skin tanning type • tip for young skin • estimate your SPF • burning when you least expect
