Presentation transcript:

Toronto Invasive Bacterial Diseases Network  Collaborative network of all hospital and largest private microbiology laboratories in metropolitan Toronto/Peel Region (pop’n 3.1M)  Conducts prospective, population-based surveillance for selected invasive bacterial diseases  Invasive disease defined as that associated with positive culture from a normally sterile site Toronto Invasive Bacterial Diseases Network

Surveillance for GBS and neonatal sepsis  Laboratories report all sterile site cultures  Basic information (age, site culture, diagnosis) collected on all cases  Detailed chart review with consent  Denominator data on births from birth registry and hospital records Toronto Invasive Bacterial Diseases Network

Neonatal Sepsis (excluding CNS & GBS) Metropolitan Toronto/Region of Peel, Ontario, Canada, Toronto Invasive Bacterial Diseases Network

Early onset neonatal GBS disease Metropolitan Toronto/Region of Peel, Ontario, Canada, Toronto Invasive Bacterial Diseases Network
