Sasha Tryanichev

“The amount of space on a 2 dimensional object.” There is a specific formula that you must follow to find the area of each shape. Triangle: ½ x b x h Rectangle: w x h Square: w x h Circle: π × r 2 Show Me

“The bigger number on the left hand side of an exponent” When working with exponents you need to multiply the base accordingly to the exponent. 5⁴ = 5x5x5x5 = 625

“A number that is used to multiply a variable” A number multiplied by a variable and a power

“The bottom number of a fraction” The denominator is a part of a fraction, When working with fractions in graphing use the denominator for easier graphing. Show Me

“A number that represents how many times you multiply the base by itself” The exponent will tell you how many times you need to multiply the base by itself, if it is 3 then you do 2x2x2. Show Me

“A number that is not a whole” When adding or subtracting fractions you need to find the LCM, but when multiplying you just do it. Show Me

“Like an equals sign, but the number on the left is bigger than the one on the right” Math statement that indicates two sides that are not equal or balanced.

“The longest side on a right triangle” To find the hypotenuse you need to use the Pythagorean theorem, a²+b² =c² Show Me

“When working with equations you isolate number with the variables to make solving easier” If you want to want solving equations easier you need to put all of the numbers with the same variables to one side.

“Before the final exam you should start studying a month before” If you study for 30 minutes each day for a month you will be more prepared for the exam.

“Polynomials with the same variables” You can simplify equations by adding or subtracting the monomials.

“Like an greater than sign, but the number on the left is smaller than the one on the right” Math statement that indicates two sides that are not equal or balanced.

“The larger arc joining two points on the circumference of a circle” The major arc is the larger arc of a circle, point A and B are connected by a chord.

“The number on top of a fraction”

“When the signs get flipped” The numbers get changed from positive to negative. When working with polynomial if there is a “-” before the bracket you flip the sings.

“Lines that are 90° to each other” Lines that are perpendicular are always 90° to each other.

“The four sections of a graph that are divided by the x, y, x- and y- planes” The place where the points are placed depends on if the numbers are negative of positive.

“Flip the number, for example 3/4 becomes 4/3” Reciprocals are used when dividing fractions.

“The area of a 3D object” There is a different formula for each shape. Cube: 6a² Rectangle Prism: 2ab + 2bc + 2ac Sphere: 4 pi r 2 Show Me

“Helps you organize equations” You make an equation and then put y on one side a x on the other an fill it out.

“Polynomials with unlike variables” Numbers with unlike variables cannot be added or subtracted to simplify equations.

“A symbol for a number that you don’t know yet” A variable is a letter that replaces a unknown number.

“Number that do not end with a decimal” Numbers that don’t end with a decimal or that are a fraction.

“A line on a graph that runs from left to right” The horizontal axis on a graph

“A line on a graph that runs up and down” The y axis runs vertically on a graph

“Numbers that get cancelled out because they’re opposite ” A positive and negative number that get cancelled out by each other. Used when working with equations.
