Lesson Objectives Students will be able to identify and describe shapes 100% of the time. Students will be able to identify the differences between two shapes 100% of the time.

Introduction to Activities I will ask the students what shapes they know. We will sit on the carpet and use blocks of different shapes to see what shapes the students already know.

List What We Know About Shapes

Squares and Rectangles Squares are shapes with four sides that are the same length. Rectangles are shapes that have four sides with two sides that are longer than the other two sides. They are squares that have had two sides pushed together.

Circles and Ovals Circles have no sides and are round. Ovals are circles that have been pushed together. What do you know about circles?

Triangles Triangles have three sides and three points.

Any questions about shapes so far?
