Morocco  The Kingdom of Morocco has a population of about 31,605,616.  99.7% are Muslim. 0.3% are Christian.  The official language is Arabic.  Its name means ‘The western kingdom.’  It is the country at the north western corner of Africa.

Most westerners think of Morocco as a holiday destination. It has the beauty of the Atlas mountains in the centre, the Sahara desert in the south east and a Mediterranean coast. However, Morocco is a country of real spiritual darkness dominated by the influence of Islam.

Morocco has a rich historical heritage. There are many Roman remains. It also has a Christian history especially amongst the Berber people. Saint Augustine was from this ethnic group.

In 2010 there was an expulsion of foreign mission workers There has been an increase in the surveillance of Christians in Morocco Many local churches have stopped meeting together as a result It is too early to assess the impact of the changes in the constitution following the protests in Morocco in 2011

Despite considerable poverty in the kingdom most buildings have an array of satellite dishes clustered over the roof space

Pray for Christian broadcasts and television programmes. Pray for the influence of Christian witness to the people of Morocco using the internet.

Pray for the Berber people in Morocco. There are reports of significant numbers of Berbers coming to faith in Christ in Morocco. Pray for the few evangelical believers in Morocco. Pray that the scattered churches may be gathered together again. Pray for the authorities in Morocco that the hostility against Christians may be reduced. Pray for the conversion of Moroccan people in other countries so that they may influence their families in Morocco.
