4 Changes to General Waste  Landfill Directive 2007  Company responsibility & what our users want to see  Currently working on waste tender  Hopefully the successful company in this tender will eventually be able to service all the College Group sites

7 Chemicals/Paint/Automotive  6 th form science currently have their own collection organised – developing chemical ‘strategy’  Working with phs at moment to determine beauty & salon waste route  Storage drums for oils etc & battery boxes. Stand alone wash baths for parts washing.

11 Horticulture  Learning development process their waste through wormeries, which were funded by the LSC  Other site has compost bays Food – future  Investigated food waste collection – not economical  Definitely a future development, possibly tied in to degradable packaging.

12 Construction  School has a contract for construction waste disposal – segregated from general waste.  Reuse material if they can & don’t use cement so bricks can be taken apart again. Contractor  Small jobs – waste usually removed by the contractor.  Working on developing on-site contractor waste facility.  Developed Site Waste Management Plan Guidance for large jobs if contractors wish to use it.

13 Overall  Ensure all contractors have the relevant & correct paperwork & licence.  Audit all companies-in person or using paperwork  Ensure consignment notes are left when material is collected  Use companies on recommendation or who are transparent in their processes

14 Problems  Suppliers not providing us with the correct paperwork  Suppliers not taking their responsibilities seriously  Staff & students ‘not bothered’  Staff not understanding the reasons for developing waste management
