Dementia is a condition which effects the brain It is more than forgetfulness it is the gradual loss of ability to think, reason, talk and do simple day to day tasks which you and I take for granted. Dementia is a life long limiting condition.

Currently 19,000 living with dementia in Northern Ireland 40% do not have a diagnosis We know that the figures will more than treble in the next years.

Aim? To make our community more dementia friendly Support people living with dementia to maintain their independence Support business/community organisations to have dementia awareness within life cycle of organisation

How? Deliver awareness raising presentations 50 Dementia champions Media/publicity campaign Support business/community to review policy procedures to be dementia friendly Scope existing business quality marks with a view to having a mark included for dementia Share good practice in dementia support Monitoring role of NI dementia strategy

How can we partner? Provide awareness raising to your staff Support you in reviewing your policy procedure to be dementia friendly Work with community/business to raise their awareness of dementia
