Job interviews How to prepare for a job interview

Preparation checklist Research the company: its history, structure, personnel and goals. Know the contents of your résumé well. Prepare questions that you want to ask the interviewer. Practise your interview skills. Practise how you will answer particular questions.

Preparation checklist Make sure you know:  the time and place of the interview  the name and job title of the interviewer or the members of the interview panel.

What to do in the interview Predict possible questions. Show that you really want the job. Show that you are enthusiastic about what you have done and what you want to do. Communicate your skills and abilities clearly. During the interview, focus on the interviewers/s. In a panel, try to make equal amounts of eye-contact with each person. Present yourself as being confident.

Practice makes perfect! Practise your interview skills with friends or family. Video one or more of your role-play interviews and watch them carefully. Learn from your mistakes.
