History of bicycle Bicycles were first invented in 1816. They introduced into England in 1818. They were use for transportation to school, and to exercise. It was invented by Baron Karl Drais von Sauerbronn. People who want to exercise or lives near a school uses bikes.

Timeline 1816: Baron Karl Drais von Sauerbronn built the first bicycle. 1818: Bicycle introduced in England. 1885: James Starley manufactured safety bicycle with wheels of approximately equal diameter and a sprocket-chain drive connecting the pedals with the rear wheels. 1888:  The safety bicycle superseded the high-wheeled form.
