BEFORE, DURING & AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE BY IV-6 MONSTERS

BEFORE AN EARTHQUAKE, ONE MUST: Prepare for the possibility of an earthquake Realize that it is likely to have a fire after an earthquake Stock up on these emergency items Emergency items (fire extinguisher, first aid kit, battery powered- radio, batteries, flashlight, etc.) available? Do you know how to use these items and where they are stored? Have you discussed a meet-up plan with your family? START Learn how to use them and put them in accessible areas Do you know first aid? Learn first aid Have you participated in drills? Participate in drills Discuss meet up plan Share what you know with other people END NO YES NO A A A A YES NO

DURING AN EARTHQUAKE, ONE MUST: Do not use elevators because they would probably get stuck anyway If inside a car, stop the car and stay in it until the earthquake stops. Do not use any form of flame possible. (if indoors), stand against a wall near the center of the building or stand in a doorway. (crawling under heavy furniture is not advisable) Stay calm! START END

AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE, ONE MUST: Check self and others for injuries. Provide first aid kit for anyone in need of one. Check water, gas and electric lines for damaged. If damaged, shut off the valves. Check for the smell of gas, if one smells it, open all doors and windows, leave immediately, and report to the authorities. Turn on the radio, avoid using a phone. Stay out of damaged buildings.
