The Role of the Holy Spirit as Teacher

Why does God care about our effectiveness? How can the Holy Spirit play a role in our teaching? What is the role of prayer in relation to our effectiveness as teachers? What is the potential result of praying and asking for help in our teaching effectiveness? If we understand how significant God’s role can be in our teaching effectiveness, what keeps us from letting Him help?

It may strengthen our opportunities to share our faith with students and other teachers. It allows us to live life more “abundantly” or “purpose filled.” The more effective we are, the more people we can help. Because we care – He cares. He wants our personal relationship with Him to grow and develop.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. John 14: Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Colossians 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,

Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Acts 10:40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

How do teacher / professors pray in regard to their teaching? What are teachers’ expectations in regard to God’s intervention in their teaching effectiveness? Is there a self reported gap between what instructors know about prayer and what they practice?

What are the ways we can consistently implement prayer / God’s help in our teaching? If we understand how significant God’s role can be in our teaching effectiveness, what keeps us from letting Him help? What can we do to pass this truth along to the teachers / coaches we are training? Implications

Romans 1:28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 7:18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
