Vietnam Vietnam is an Asian country It has about 58 provinces Their flag has a star on it Their country’s colors are red & yellow

History The north side of Vietnam fought the Chinese for hundreds of years. Finally in 939 the rebel, Ngo Quyen became the ruler of independent land of Nam Viet. Later on, independent lands in the south started to become part of the country, which remained independent for about 1,000 years.

Cities Vietnam has 5 municipalities. They are, Can Tho, Da Nang, Hanoi, Haiphong, and Ho Chi Minh city. Ho Chi Minh city (recently called Saigon) is the largest urban area, with a population of over 7 million people. Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) is the heart of the country’s economy. Hanoi is the center of government. Can Tho is a vibrant trading center in Mekong Delta

Food Rice is the most important food in Vietnam, most people in Vietnam eat rice for 3 meals a day. Other common dishes are noodles with soup, chicken or beef broth. (Pho) Vietnamese spring rolls. (Cha Gio) Sometimes people eat a fish sauce called Nouc Mam with their meals.
