“Real” Monopoly

NEW RULES Along with the original rules we know and love, there will be a few new ones… – There are now Presidents! – Welfare! – Economic Circumstances! Explained as they happen… – Taxes!

Taxes Taxes will be applied to every purchase and go to the President. Taxes will also be paid each time a player passes GO in the same amount as the purchase tax. The amount of taxes you pay depends on your current President. You MUST pay taxes. If you forget, you go to jail and pay HALF of all the money you have to the President.

Welfare Welfare is a public service paid for by the President. If a player goes below $500, then he/she qualifies for welfare. Welfare checks will be given out as the qualifying player passes GO. Players on welfare do not have to pay taxes at GO, but do pay on purchases The amount of welfare each player can get depends on the current President.

Houses/Hotels To build a house, the player must pay what that piece of land says, plus the President’s tax. The tax to build a house is double what it cost to buy the land. Hotels are triple. The cost of land and houses are subject to change, based on the economy.

MEET YOUR PRESIDENTS Neil P. Johnson – Taxes: $20 added to every purchase – Welfare: $100 extra at GO for qualifying player Dustin S. Elder – Taxes: $10 added to every purchase – Welfare: $50 extra at GO for qualifying player
