The lesson should meet students’ needs Get to know the spiritual needs of your students.  Two types of basic lessons:  evangelistic  Christian growth  Spiritual needs: (Rom 2:29; Gal 5:22- 23)  Pride?  Insecurity?  Strife?  Envy?

The lesson must be planned The lesson plan is best drawn up by the teacher him/herself.  Teacher is different  Students are different Steps of a lesson:  Teaching aim  The material needed  A plan of presentation, including the methods  Including the opening, closing and the points of application.

The lesson must have a specific aim It is the objective and the purpose that the teacher hopes to accomplish with the lesson.  Brief enough to be remembered.  Clear enough to be written down.  Specific enough to be achieved. Every part of the lesson should point toward this one aim.

Lesson should be interesting (HOOK)  Catch the attention  Hold the interest  Create desire  Inspire action

The lesson must be on the students’ level  Consider the language and terminology.  Use terms that mean what they say and say what they mean.  Know the children’s maturity.

The lesson must be applied and taken home (LOOK,TOOK) The teacher must assist the pupils in applying the biblical truth to their own lives  Teacher can illustrate with his/her own story.  Teacher can ask students to off ideas. Teacher can drive the application home by offering a little help. (This could be the closing part)  A commitment  A project  A reminder
