Communications Technologies Bertinoro 2009 Teledyne RD Instruments Leaders in Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers and Doppler Velocity Logs Communications Technologies Bertinoro 2009 Welcome and Thank You for joining us! {Intro, change the event name (in orange) to match the event you are attending} Measuring Water in Motion and Motion in Water

Teledyne Corporate Office Divided into 4 divisions Energy Systems Division = a company making fuel cells for long term power sources Aerospace Engines & Components Division = 50% of the airplanes flying today, whether they are small planes to large jets have components from Teledyne, from switches, relays, to sensors, and even engines Government System Engineering Division = traditional market place for Teledyne; working with NASA and the military for space programs Electronics Communications Division = several manufacturing companies of high end electronics, including the Teledyne Marine group

The Electronics and Communications serves the largest market segment of the Teledyne Company E&C has 3 major focus areas, Defense, Environmental/Industrial, and everything that falls out on the outside of those Teledyne Marine group is part of the Environmental/Industrial market focus Teledyne’s worldwide customers include major industrial and communications companies, government agencies, prime contractors and general aviation companies.

Geophysical has been part of Teledyne for greater than 25 years Webb Research The Teledyne Marine group was started in late 2005 after the purchase of Teledyne RD Instruments (RDI) and they teamed with Teledyne Geophysical Teledyne Geophysical manufactures streamer hydrophone arrays for use in offshore oil & gas seismic fields. Geophysical has been part of Teledyne for greater than 25 years In late August 2005 RDI was purchased by Teledyne Technologies RDI is the premier manufacturer of marine instruments such as: the Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) for measuring water currents and directions in profiles from 25cm to >1000m The Doppler Velocity Logs (DVL) for measuring vehicle speed and direction over ground or through the water Flow Measurement Products for measuring the amount of water discharge past a given point Teledyne Benthos was the next company to be acquired and brought into the Teledyne Marine group in 2006; Benthos is a premier manufacturer of Acoustic Releases for undersea products Acoustic Modems for under sea communications Towed side scan sonar arrays Glass flotation spheres Teledyne ODI was brought into the Teledyne Marine group in 2007 and will be completely owned by Teledyne in 2009. ODI is the premier manufacturer of under water mateable hybrid connectors; able to supply electrical signals, power, and optical signals in a single connector Teledyne DG O’Brian was acquired shortly after ODI and they are premier manufacturer of dry mate penetrators Teledyne Impulse was acquired in Dec 2007 and are the #1 provider of wet mateable connectors used in most of the marine sensor manufacturers today, including RDI, Benthos, SeaBird, and a host of others Teledyne TSS was acquired at the beginning of 2008 and manufacture the top Gryo devices for use in surface and sub-surface vehicles Cable trackers Teledyne Webb Research joined the Marine Group in Q2 2008. Webb manufactures 2 major products for oceanography research: The APEX float is part of the >3000 floats now in operation in the worlds oceans It provides as a minimum profiles of temperature and salinity, but other sensors such as Do, Flouresence, etc are available The Slocum Glider can be thought of as a smart float, collecting CTD information for both military battle space needs and ocean research Teledyne Corman was purchased by Teledyne Limited in mid Oct2008. Corman designs and manufactures surface and sub-sea sand and corrosion sensors, as well as flow integrity monitoring systems, used in oil and gas production systems. Sand sensors monitor the erosive effects of solids in production flows. Subsea sensors and flow integrity monitoring systems are designed to accelerate hydrocarbon production, reduce operating costs and extend asset life for oil and gas operators and processors. The subsea flow-through systems, which are fitted into flowlines, provide detailed corrosivity profiling and localized corrosion measurements. Teledyne Odom was purchased by Teledyne RD Instruments in Dec2008. Odom designs and manufactures hydrographic survey instrumentation (single and multibeam echo sounders and speed logs), used in port survey, dredging, offshore energy and other apps. CORMAN ODOM

The strength of the Teledyne Marine group is in 2 major ways: 1 – We are able to leverage the strengths of each company and through partnering we can bring a better total solution to our customers Currently ODI and RDI are teaming to create a Gateway Node for observatories around the US and the World Benthos and RDI are teaming to create a sub-surface mooring to provide real time waves and currents data; free of biases due to mooring motion Scientific Marine, RDI, and the entire Teledyne Marine group are teaming to provide a real time wave energy buoy highlighting all of the products we provide 2 – We are able to leverage our world wild coverage through our satellite offices locations all over the world; allowing us: to share these offices and provide better local services and products to our customers Teledyne continues to look for high technology companies to join the Teledyne Marine team and we will continue to grow and provide better services to our customers in the future
