Gap Year Volunteer Project Cassie de Rooy

volunteering for an organisation called GVI (Global Vision International). GVI has over 100 working projects in over 25 countries. sports projects, wildlife and terrestrial conservation, marine conservation, construction projects and climate change.

3000 volunteers away each year to places such as Africa, South America, Asia, Europe and Central America. expeditions, internships abroad and volunteer projects

sports and education project which is in Mombasa (Kenya) which is located in East Africa. lead and plan sport lessons and activities for impoverished children in the Bombolulu Slum. Might get the chance to run extra-curricular sports clubs and assist with the education that comes with sport.

Helps with depression, aids with better concentration, teaches the fundamentals of teamwork, respect for rules and can also boost and individuals confidence.

IMondays – Fridays from 8am – 4pm. And when I am not running classes or sporting activities I will be planning lessons or supporting other lessons.

The social justice issue that is being addressed here is the lack of education. Education is one of the most major and biggest basic rights for human beings. Since Kenya became independent in 1963 the recommendations for quality education have barely been looked at, evaluated and ignored.

We are helping this Social Justice issue by teaching kids the importance of sport and the education that comes with it. Not only will the children be physically active they will also learn about. With their education they can continue to educate other people

There are lots of ways that you can apply to GVI and one of the most common ways is through the website. Firstly you go online to the website and complete the application process there. From then on the staff from GVI will contact you and then you can figure out when you want to go
