HYDROSEEDING & HYDROMULCHING

Successful hydroseeding & hydromulching projects can be very complex with different slopes, soils, soil amendments, climate, amounts & types of mulch, tackifiers, & seed (both cover crop & final species mix) to be considered.

On slopes could be a two or three step process: first pass can be seed, soil amendments, water, fertilizer, etc. to ensure good seed-soil contact. Second pass can be blown straw or not, then second/third pass a hydromulch/tackifier blend. Always follow manufacturer’s recommended application rates. Shoot mixtures in at least two opposite directions (no shadows or bare spots).

Hydroseeding & Hydromulching can be very effective for fast cover on disturbed & steep areas, Many stream projects have had good results with wood-based Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM) or Flexible Growth Medium (FGM)

Looking good - less than 5 weeks after hydroseeding, mix of 10 lbs #/acre of Riverbank Wildrye, (Elymus riparius) 5 lbs #/ac Creeping Bentgrass, (Agrostis stolonifera) 5 lbs #/ac Annual Ryegrass, (Lolium multiflorum) Aug 10, 2005

PERFORMANCE PROPERTIES OF SELECTED HYDROSEED/HYDROMULCH MIXES Flexible Growth Medium is the strongest!
