ERIN WIMBERLY LIBERTY UNIVERSITY WINTER 2011 Tool Box Presentation Peer Pressure and Propaganda

Needs A sixth grade English teacher approached the school counselor about a problem that seems to be increasing among her students. According to the teacher, her students are getting in trouble frequently for “following the crowd.” The school counselor and the teacher collaborate d to come up with an approach to decrease this problem among her classes. The school counselor will go into the classroom to conduct a lesson on propaganda and relate it to peer pressure.

Target Population Teacher A’s 6 th grade ELA classes 129 students It will be a setting where the achievement gap will be addressed.

Goal To enhance awareness of peer pressure and increase language arts skills.

Objectives Objective 1: Enhance the ability to indentify propaganda techniques by 20%. Objective 2: To increase awareness of peer pressure and decision making skills by 20%.
