Why Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace? Now that most workplaces have a physical first aid officer… It’s time the same is done for mental health with mental health first aid officers too…

Optimal learning environment What do Course Participants Learn? The course teaches managers, supervisors and other employees how to assist a co-worker who is developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Mental health problems covered: - Depression - Anxiety problems - Psychosis - Substance use problems Mental health crises covered: - Suicidal thoughts and behaviours - Non-suicidal self-injury - Panic attacks - Traumatic events - Severe psychotic states - Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use - Aggressive behaviours All course content is evidence-based.

Blended Course Structure Designed for workplaces that require increased flexibility, this is a Blended Course a combination of self-paced online learning (eLearning) and 3.5-hours of follow-on face-to-face training. Course participants first complete the interactive eLearning component that presents an overview of mental health problems and mental health crises in workplace settings. The follow-on 3.5 hour face-to-face training allows participants the opportunity to: o Revise and consolidate skills in a group environment, o Address mental health problems in the workplace in more depth o Discuss ‘what next’ in using their MHFA knowledge and skills at work.
