Training  Training of nurses on Integrated Eye Care workers/ trichiasis surgery/ in collaboration with Carter center. 65 nurses trained  Health extension workers on trachoma/ Referrals  Networking CBR, Water and education sectors with health services in North Wollo.

Collaborating with research team  Costs of blindness and cost effectiveness of cataract surgery in Northern, Ethiopia HCP, Rand corporation  Baseline survey on Costs of Blindness March/April 2012 About 1900 house holds interviewed, of whom 1400 bilateral blind  Woldiya Eye campaign, May/2012 conducted by HCP 1131 cataract surgeries done/6day/ Drs. Geoffrey, Matt, Ruit, Tilahun and Alemu Learning experience for Woldiya,SEU Instruments and supplies donated  Survey for refusals and Cataract Outreach June people got sight restoring surgeries  Impact of cataract surgery to be assessed next year

 Eye problems pose huge economic and social impact for affected individuals and to the society and the nation at large.  The policy makers will benefit from the data that the baseline survey and impact assessment of cataract surgery will generate and hence make data based decision on the allocation of resources.  Thus, implement appropriate, affordable and accessible interventions.
