The Wedding  In 2011 there was a royal wedding  This wedding was the biggest live internet event of history  Prince William wedded Kate, Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster abbey in London, England  Akamai, a major traffic carrier, said that its own record of 1.6 million concurrent live streams during the World Cup was broken  This event nearly crashed the entire internet  Most websites were ready for this event to break traffic record  This event ran smoothly on YouTube but some other websites didn’t have as much luck

The Protest - In 2012  In 2012 a major protest occurred  It was over Congressional support for anti-Web piracy measures  The protest included a 24-hour shutdown of the English-language Wikipedia site  There were two bills the Stop Online Piracy Act in the House and the Protect IP act in the Senate  The goal of the bills was to stop illegal streaming and downloading of TV shows and movies online  The tech industry was concerned that the bills will give media companies to much power to shut down websites

The Internet Hall Of Fame – 2012  The Internet Society (ISoc) was founded in 1992  The Isoc is an international, non-profit organization  The Isoc headquarter are in Reston, Virginia  Its mission is to promote the open development  Later in 2012 they created the Internet Hall Of Fame  Al Gore helped create the Internet Hall of Fame by helping fund it

The Coding Error  In April of 2014 a coding error was discovered inOpenSSl  This means that encryption software that makes transactions between a computer and a remote secure, makes users vulnerable to having their personal information stolen  Millions of banks, Internet commerce companies, services, government sites, and social media sites rely on OpenSSL to conduct secure transactions  This coding error was made in 2012  Computer security experts encourage you to change your passwords  They don’t know how this happened, why this happened, or who would have done this

Internet Users In the World  All these stats are from 2014  Asia has 45.7% of the online users in the world  Europe comes second with 19.2%  Thirdly, comes Latin America/The Caribbean with10.5%  Next, There is North America and the have about 10.2% of the internet users  Africa comes next with 9.8%  Middle East has about 3.7% of the Worlds internet users  Oceania/Australia are last with 0.9% of the worlds Users  An internet user is a person who has access to the internet at his/her house  The reason they created this was to get the stats and evaluate them
