Imperial Units of Weight

Which of these imperial units is used to measure weight? Gallon Ounce Feet Pound Inch Fluid Ounce Pint Stone

Weighing in imperial units When weighing everyday objects in imperial units, we use pounds and ounces. There are sixteen ounces in one pound. So how many ounces are in two pounds?

We are going to focus on ounces One ounce weighs the same as grams What is this to the nearest whole number? That’s right! 28 grams So 1 ounce = 28 grams

OLI – To convert different weights from ounces to grams Remember that 1 ounce = 28 grams What method is used to calculate grams? For example how would we calculate: 6 ounces = _____ grams 6 x 28 = 168grams

Success Criteria Simply multiply the number of ounces by 28 to find the equivalent in grams. Remember that ounces can be written oz
