Outline:  Introduction.  Technology impact on Construction.  Information and Communication Technology Impact.  Direction of Future Technology.  Benefits of Technology  Conclusion.

Introduction:  A lot of information, equipment, materials and work in construction  A lot of risks and difficulties in construction.  A lot of meetings, data and communications in construction.

Technology Impact on Construction:  3D/4D Technology.  Sensing Technology.  Computer programs.

3D/4D Model Application : 1. Photorealistic Rendering. 2. Virtual Design Review 3. Analyzing Design Options/Building Operations 4. Cost Estimating 5. Analyzing Construction Operations 6. Construction Document Production 7. Bid Package Preparation

Application of sensing technology:  Safety  injury and illness in construction industries 5 times the all-industry average.  1200 deaths and disabling injuries per year.  Annual cost of construction injuries is over 15 billion $.

Sensor Technology:  Radio Frequency Technology  alerts the worker by recognizing and detecting hazards environment.  Ultra Wideband (UWB)  advanced technology  More accurate

Computer Program:  DSS (Decision Support System)  enhance the project administration.  construction conflict resolution under uncertainty.  Help in deciding  the negotiation strategy  course of action

I&C Technology impact:  A lot of information that transfer between the project parties.  Good communication- successful project.  Bad communication – Fail project.

I&C Technology impact:  Construction Negotiation Online CoNegO  Smartsettle software technology  improve the speed of communication

I&C Technology impact:  Advantages of negotiation Online  Enhance efficiency of negotiation preparation  Computing facilitates of CoNegO  Flexible time and management

I&C Technology impact:  Difficulties  Adjustment and adapt the senior employees with this technology  efficient way of using the technology  duplication between paper work and technology work follow

Direction of Future Technology  The technology has not limit to stop  Nanotechnology  Nanotechnology is a way that deals with understanding, mentoring, controlling and manipulating matter at very small level of individual and molecules in the range of 0.1 to 100 nanometer (10 exp -9), creating materials, devices and systems, with new properties and functions

Direction of Future Technology  Nanotechnology future impact  generating initiative and innovation that develop  construction material  structural health monitoring of civil infrastructure  design of intelligent structures

Benefits of Technology Increasing the Productivity Saving Cost Saving Time Improve the quality

Conclusion:  latest existing technologies that are useful for project construction and administration.  Technology plays important role to enhance the safety environment in the work place.  The computer program can play important role to reduce the claims and disputes.  Defining the nanotechnology and show it’s advantages.
