 Population-9,794,487.  Language-Spanish.  Religion-Roman Catholic.  Government Type-Democratic republic.  Imports Exports-Ferronickel, sugar, gold, silver, coffee, cocoa, tobacco, meats, consumer goods, foodstuffs, petroleum, cotton and fabrics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.  Major Geographical Features-Shares island of Hispaniola with Haiti.
