Praying for Prosperity: 3 John 1:2

 3 John 1:2 --Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

 It is not wrong to pray for prosperity if we use it righteously.  Proverbs 3:9 -- Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;

 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

 Hebrews 13:5 -- Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

 Luke 16:13 -- “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!

 …nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

 James 5:14 -- Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord….

 Matthew 10:8 -- Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

 Content Souls  Psalm 42:5 -- Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.

 Psalm 103:2 -- Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;

 Psalm 24: Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, And has not sworn deceitfully.

 Psalm 25: Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way he should choose. His soul will abide in prosperity, And his descendants will inherit the land.
