Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program Purpose: To enhance the ability of first responders to protect the health and safety of the public from fire and related hazards. Funding: Began in 2001 with $120 million, now $750 million/year from as part of Congressional reauthorization. E-Grant: Information, application, award, reports, payments, closeout are all online. 2

FP&S Fire Departments (non-federal) National, regional, state, local & Tribal Nations. Community organizations, private and public non- profit orgs, academic and research institutions. 4
