The Vanier CGS Doctoral Scholarships deadline date is September 30, 2009 for Memorial. Applicants who applied for a Vanier should also apply for the SSHRC CGS/Doctoral Fellowships to optimize their chances of being successful. Of course, one must be a Canadian or Permanent Resident to apply for a SSHRC. If a nominee is not successful in receiving a Vanier, he/she will not automatically considered for a SSHRC CGS D. The CGS –Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements are available to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who hold a CGS M/D or the Vanier. The supplement will cover costs associated with travel, living and other expenses (such as accommodation, meals, tuition, insurance and other necessary costs) during the research study abroad for a period up to six months. Recipients must hold an active award at the time the study period abroad starts.
