Mau Mau (mow- mow) A card game Typical German games Mau Mau (mow- mow) A card game

The Game MauMau is a popular card game in Germany. It is very popular among children, because the rules are quite easy. All you need is just a deck of cards:

How to play it: 2-4 players At the beginning each player gets a deck of 6 cards. The rest of the cards are your drawing stack. They are placed face down on the table. The topmost card of the drawing stack is revealed. You can play if your card corresponds to the one revealed from the drawing stack in suit or value.  Choose your card and put it on the one revealed. If your card doesn‘t have the correct suit or value, you have to take one from the drawing stack. If you still cannot play, keep the drawn card and pass your turn to the next player. If the drawing stack is empty, the playing stack is shuffled and turn over as the new drawing stack.

Special rules If you get this card of any suit, you can wish for a new suit! have to draw two additional cards, or play your „7“ – then the next player has to draw 4 cards and so on… If you get this card of any suit, you have to skip. If you can play an ace, you can play an additional card, too.

How to win the game You win the game by getting rid of all of your cards. You have to say „Mau“ by playing your second to last card. If you forget to say „Mau“, you will have to take one penalty card. By playing your last card you have to say „Mau Mau“.  Enjoy the game!
