WINE REGION The Umbrian region of central Italy is bordered by Tuscany to the west, the Marche to the east, and Lazio to the south. It is the only Italian region which is both landlocked and with no common border with other countries. Umbria is the fourth smallest of Italy’s 20 regions in terms of size and population and produce only one third of the wines of neighbouring Tuscany. Orvieto is the region’s most significant DOC wine accounting for 2/3 of the DOC production. Tenimenti Santa Francesca is a new Company in Orvieto born the last few years from the experience of the 26 members sharing their knowledge, professionalism and passion for winemaking and at the same time wanting to enhance the reputation of the Umbrian region.

CELLARS The cellar is a prime example of manufacturing excellence and environmental sustainability. Equipped with the latest technology, and it can house 65,000 tons of grapes annually that include not only the fruit from vines recognised for the Orvieto appellation but also grapes from the rest of Umbria. Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The cellar is equipped with 4 different bottling lines for their range of packaging; A) Glass bottle line, which handles 10,000 pieces per hour in 75cl 1 Litre and 1.5 Litre sizes B) Automatic Bag in Box Line, which handles 600 pieces per hour for 2 Litre, 3 Litre, 5 Litre and 10 Litre C) Semi-automatic Bag in Box Line Used for 10 Litre and 20 Litre sizes D) Tetrapak 1 Litre Square Brik box

VINEYARDS There are 300 hectares of vineyards owned by the 26 members, including the Lumini family, who is the major shareholder. These vineyards are planted with Trebbiano, Grechetto, Malvasia, Pinot Grigio, Drupeggio and Vermentino white grapes and Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo and Barbera red grapes. VINTAGE SUMMARY - 2014 In Italy the harvest should be slightly lower.  Bad weather (rainfall) raged in northern Italy and southern Italy has suffered from drought. Initial estimates indicate less than 49 million hl (4% less than in 2013. In the central Italy the harvest was 15% down but with exceptional fruit and excellent quality.
