text features design elements that present information visually.

subheadings (aka section titles) hint at the main idea or topic of the section that follows.

graphic aids include things like maps, photographs or timelines.

captions provide information about a graphic aid

Introduction In 2000, Paul Sereno led a team of scientists to Gadoufaoua, Niger (Africa) to look for fossils, after having found some there in 1997. The team spent 4 months there and found 20 tons of bones from fish, turtles, dinosaurs and from a Supercroc.

What Makes This Croc So Super? Supercroc skull = 6 ft Sereno compared this to today's crocs. Today's largest = 20 ft SC = 40 ft long, weighed 10 tons

When Did SuperCroc Live? SC lived 110 million years ago - Sereno compared fossils that already had dates Gadoufaoua, now a desert, used to have lots of water found SC along with 5 other croc species

What Did SuperCroc Eat? SC had 130 short, strong teeth and ate fish, turtles and dinos bite down, drag prey under water, drown it, eat it

What Happened to SuperCroc? SC only lived for a few million years Possible answers - Why it died off: rare since a creature that big needs lots of room disease disaster no one knows for sure
